Bakawali Sari Warisan is a centre for study based at Kampung Raja, Terengganu set-up by Norhaiza Noordin. It is housed in a complex of antique Malay houses that he has restored. Here you can learn those skills that have been handed down by generations of craftsmen, from simple woodcarved icons to intricate motifs of the Keris hilt.

We are able to offer Courses based on individual or group packages and can tailor a Course to suit any specific need. All materials and tools are supplied. On a typical Course we show how to choose the correct timber, teach carving techniques combined with lectures that give an insight into Malay history and evolution of the craft.

Accommodation is available locally at simple Homestay’s or through to 4 star hotels – we can help with bookings. We provide locally prepared food & drinks from morning until evening.
Bakawali Sari Warisan is right next to our busy workshops, so you can feel part of the action and see craftsmen in action. We also have a gallery of artworks and a library of sketches and books.

Kg. Raja is close to the beautiful PerhentianIslandsand nearby lush rainforest reserves, so maybe you can combine your visit with sightseeing as well.
